Yes, before you ask, we’re sick of Celtic not being able to be astute enough to get deals over the line as quickly as possible.

The Eddie Howe debacle has put us in a bad place and the clock is ticking down to the start of next season.

The media have been pushing the Ange Postecoglou angle since last Friday but we’ve heard nothing from the club and no indication when an announcement on any new manager will be forthcoming.

This reported deal, while less than a week old, already feels very tiresome. If Ange is the man, red tape seems to be holding up the deal.

We reported earlier this morning UEFA have received an appeal from Celtic and Ange Postecoglou. The exemption both parties are looking for is a “certificate of competency” that will allow Ange to coach Celtic while obtaining his pro licence.

FCA [Football coaches australia] executive director Phil Moss doesn’t believe it will be an issue “Would it be a deal breaker? I’d like to think it won’t be,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“On an interim basis you can bridge the gap between AFC qualifications and UEFA qualifications. During the time you keep the interim certificate valid, you are completing your UEFA Pro Diploma. Currently our AFC Pro diploma relates to UEFA A Licence.”

It’s all about the timing for Celtic and UEFA don’t seem to be in a hurry to push things through for the club.

It could be weeks before the exemption is given, although most expect the exemption to go through without too much bother.
