PATRICK ROBERTS set social media alight yesterday when he posted a snap of he and Kieran Tierney sitting on a plane to Dubai, setting off with the Celtic squad.

After suffering a longterm injury late last year, the midfielder has been receiving treatment from his parent club Manchester City as he battles back to full fitness.

With that in mine, nobody thought the player would be joining Celtic for their training trip to Dubai under the circumstances.

It has raised hopes the player will be back sooner than expected and we may still see Patrick in the Hoops again before the end of the season.

Before now, many were speculating that we may not see Patrick in a Celtic jersey again.

A lot of Celtic fans have soured on the midfielder after not having a proper pre-season he was expected to hit the heights of the previous seasons. Niggling injuries before his longterm layoff was also a significant factor in Paddy not being able to get into a rhythm which seen him become a fan-favourite.

There is no doubt the tricky winger offers something different and if Celtic can get him back for any part of this seasons run in then they should.

It may sound like a broken record, but if Celtic can get this lad permanently in the summer, it would prove a masterstroke even if a lot of people seem to have forgotten how good he can be.

  1. I don’t know of a single Celtic fan who has ‘soured’ on Paddy Roberts. I know he hasn’t had the same impact as last season, even before the injury, but most Celtic fans would love to secure his permanent signing.

  2. I agree with CeltsAreHere. Some have soured and I have noticed with dismay that many so called fans have turned against a number of our players. Paddy has always given his best and we have been lucky to have him. Like this post suggests, I hope we manage to sign the bhoy permanently and I certainly hope he is back before the season end.

On another note, at home games there are quite a number who howl at the players if something is not inch perfect. Howls of derision are heard by the players even before a pass has reached its intended target. This simply dénudés the players of confidence. What is it that they do not understand about the word ‘support’? I would love to see the reaction of these so-called supporters if someone shadowed them at work and shouted at them for mistakes as they happened.
