There’s not much to be positive about if you’re a Celtic fan these days. But I wanted to highlight the biggest positive of this season and a glimmer of light at the end of this dark tunnel.

The emergence of David Turnbull into this Celtic side has given me some cause for optimism, not for this season, but the next.

A top, young talent who hs so much confidence in his own ability he sent other more senior players away from the free-kick against Hibs, revealing he could hand it.

David’s goal against Hibernian was nothing short of magic, it was perfectly placed into the top corner and the keeper had no chance. That goal deserved to be the winner, we know that it wasn’t and our old frailties this season have come back to bite us again. If we can get our act together over the next six months, building a team around David is an absolute must!

The only negative I can take from David’s Celtic season is he wasn’t trusted sooner!

Neil Lennon held the player back until there was a dead rubber against Lille. The old guard were floundering but the Celtic manager stuck with them until the league looked out of sight.

We won’t win the league this season but it should be all about the future, and this young man is the future of Celtic. Whoever comes in next has to take David and Callum McGregor and just get a team moving around them.
