FERENCVAROS will be regretting their choices earlier this season after they called their talisman back into the first team squad after a stint in the reserves.

Franck Boli was sensationally thrown into the reserves after trying to manufacture a move away from the club before the end of the transfer window.

His petulance backfired with Boli being sent to training with the youngsters and completely taken out of the picture even though he is one of the club’s best players.

This week, Ferencvaros have decided to recall the striker to first team training and the manager has revealed Franck could play a part domestically this weekend.

The Hungarian released this statement from their manager:

“Since this wasn’t the first time we had a problem with Franck Boli, we decided he couldn’t train with the first-team for a few weeks. We knew the team was losing its quality with this, but we wanted to make it clear to everyone that there are certain things that can’t be left without consequences.

Ferencvaros shocked Celtic last season in their Champions League qualifier behind closed doors.

“This was also important for the overall framework. Will Franck be a first-team member in the match against Zalaegerszeg? We’ll see if anything can happen.

“In any case, during the match week, I’m already looking forward to training again, so it’s conceivable that he’ll also get a place in Saturday’s league meeting.”

This is where the massive own goal has come into play. They have decided to forgive and forget, but Ferencvaros did NOT register Boli for the Europa League because of his antics.

It means even though they’ve now forgiven him and are looking to move on from the last window – he can’t play in Europe and more specifically, can’t play against Celtic.

We need to focus on our own game, of course, but it’s no less a boost to know the player can’t be used.
