Celtic face a battle to land one of their top summer transfer targets after it emerged last night that Feyenoord have entered into talks with Willem II and Mitchell Dijks representatives about a potential move to Rotterdam.
The 22-year-old defender has had a stand out season with the Dutch outfit and has gained many admirers. The former Ajax youth player seems likely to make a move in the summer window but with so much competition Celtic will now have to show their hand sooner than anticipated.
Dijks is under contract in Tilburg until 2016, and Willem II could command a decent amount for any transfer with a percentage heading back Ajax’s way.
Celtic have been active scouting many players in the last 6 months in anticipation for next season. With early qualifiers again next season it’s imperative Celtic bed in new players quickly.
