It hasn’t been confirmed yet but the deal looks very much complete as Filip Benkovic trained with the Celtic squad for the first time this morning.

He and Mulumbu were pictured chatting in training today as they were put through their paces ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

Benkovic is coming in on an initial one-year loan deal from Leicester City and will bring some much needed stability to Celtic’s back line.

Celtic have been chasing the player for some time but were priced out of a move for the defender by Zagreb who eventually sold to Leicester for £13million plus add-ons.

The English club were approached by Celtic this week about bringing the player in for a season if they had no plans for him in the first team quite yet.

A deal was struck and the player fancied it. Filip and Mulumbu could go straight into the squad for Sunday if fit enough. More likely to see both debut after the derby.
