Former Celtic star and friend of the site Erik Sviatchenko has suffered final day title heartache.

The Danish defender missed out on the league title by a single point with his current club Midtjylland, pipped to the post by Brondby who are now celebrating this evening.

Erik and his teammates did their job on the day by grabbing a final day victory; winning 4-0 against AGF. However, Brondby held their nerve and got the win that seen them crowned champions.

Erik was signed by Ronny Deila during the Norweigan’s two-year stint as Celtic manager.

The centre-back would go on to be a part of Celtic’s invincible side under Brendan Rodgers, but his influence in the side diminished in the second half of that season when Dedryk Boyata re-emerged onto the scene.

Erik was then sent out on loan to Midtjylland for a season before the Danish club sealed his permanent return to the club at the end of his loan spell.

The player has enjoyed tremendous success back in his homeland but tonight he and his teammates will be a bit raw.
