Overnight reports suggest David Turnbull is on the cusp of being a Celtic player after a weekend of soul searching by his agent.

The midfielder was expected to sign on Friday last week but his agent put down the player’s demands to Peter Lawwell and the club were not impressed.

The bhoys offered Turnbull what they branded themselves as a ‘magnificent’ deal and they would not be offering anymore in order to entice the Motherwell star.

Since then there have been rumours of a bids from down south but nothing which has been substantiated.

Overnight SunSport wrote: “The 19-year-old is finally expected to sign after several days of deadlock over personal terms.

“One of Turnbull’s key considerations is thought to be the chance of regular first-team football.”

If they are correct, Turnbull should finally become Neil Lennon’s first summer signing by the end of today.

If the player does come in it should pave the way for the club to sell Olivier Ntcham who spoke over the weekend about potentially leaving Glasgow this summer.

Turnbull signing after all of this would be great news for Celtic but his agent has had to take a heavy blow to the chin.
