Clubs such as RB Salzburg & Club Brugge are reaping the rewards of investing in top talents at a very young age – having both secured Champions League football let’s look at five potential targets Celtic could look to in order to meet their CL ambitions while sticking to their [buy low, sell high] business structure.

Williot Swedberg [Hammarby IF]

CM – Already called up to the Sweden U19 side despite being only 17 Swedberg has installed himself in the Hammarby starting XI at the heart of the midfield. PSV & Ajax are loitering to take the Swedish playmaker to the Eredivisie.

Justin Che [Bayern Munich]

CB – Recently took Che on loan to have a closer look at the Dallas centre-back. He stands at 6ft 1 & has played 12 matches in the MLS this season at the tender age of 17. A modern-day centre-back who’s more than comfortable on the ball.

Andreas Schjelderup [FC Nordsjaelland]

AM – Despite only turning 17 in July, Schjelderup is already part of the Norway U21 side. He’s played 27 matches with Nordsjaelland in the Danish top tier earning 10 goal contributions from his attacking midfield berth.

Cade Cowell [San Jose Earthquakes]

CF – The 17-year-old incredibly already has 44 MLS appearances to his name with San Jose Earthquakes. This season the 6ft tall striker has eight goal contributions, he’s a real goalscorer but also knows how to bring his teammates in to play at the same time.

Xavier Dziekonski [Jagiellonia Bialystok]

GK – Poland always produces top goalkeepers & Dziekonski is the latest. He’s started four of Jagiellonia’s nine matches this season keeping two clean sheets & conceding six fewer goals than his challenger. At 17 years old working alongside Hart would be great.
