Chris Sutton has warned of a grave day for football if some supporters aren’t allowed back in the stadium over the next four weeks.

In England, plans were set to go ahead while test events in Scotland were underway with a view to getting as many people through the door as safely as possible. Celtic were yet to be allowed to host an event, even though they have been ready for weeks.

However, the UK government have now confirmed they plan to pause the return of spectators to the game after a spike in cases. While it didn’t directly impact on Scotland it’s thought later today Nicola Sturgeon will put an end to any supporters being allowed to watch sport for the foreseeable.

Chris Sutton thinks it could be the final straw for struggling clubs as the hope of getting the ball rolling and fans inside the ground was there.

We now await the governments next move which will come later today. A whole host of restrictive measures are on the table.
