It is not that long ago that YOUSSOUF MULUMBU was a Celtic player. Things never got going in Hoops for the midfielder who was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Kilmarnock. The player only made three appearances for Celtic that totalled 155mins of football.
The Congolese international is now taking legal action against an agent who he claims took close to €1m from him. Mulumbu and his former teammate Zola have lodged a complaint against the Congolese intermediary.
According to the Scottish Sun Mulumbu told L’Equipe:
“From 2009 to 2017, I wanted to trust so-called competent people but they simply cheated and stole up to one million euros from me. My mistake was not to trust someone qualified. I realised it when I returned to Paris.”
“I wanted to find out how much I had saved, and then I saw that I had nothing. I blame myself. I was naive. I should not have trusted. I’m not the only one. That’s why I’m speaking out so that the younger generations are cautious and do not fall into the same trap.”
Mulumbu had a decent spell while at Kilmarnock but surprisingly the player is without a club since been released by Celtic in the summer. With plenty of time on his hands, the player has made a shocking discovery that will end up been dragged through courts for god knows how long. Agents are not exactly loved from any section of football but unfortunately, they have become a nessacary evil in today’s modern game.
Thought this was going to read Craig Whyte was his Agent???
