ERIK SVIATCHENKO and his loan side FC Midtjylland have given themselves an excellent chance of snatching the Danish title from Brondby’s grasp after a late winner seen Erik’s loan side go level on points with league leaders Brondby.

Only weeks ago Midtjylland were five points off the pace and looked down and out. Brandy faltering in recent weeks meant that a win last night against the league leaders would put the pressure on going into the two final games of the season.

Erik has been a pivotal part of Midtjylland’s side since joining on loan in January and is a big reason why the team are still in the title hunt.

With Brondby enjoying a seven goal cushion in goal difference, to have any chance of lifting the league trophy Midtjylland must win their last two games and hope Brondby slip up.

Erik is still under contract with Celtic and is due back in Glasgow after the summer where he will hold crunch talks about his future with Brendan Rodgers.

The Irishman lost faith in the Danish defender this season, and when Rodgers couldn’t promise first team football, he asked to go out on-loan.

Erik could yet come back with a league winners medal and prove his manager wrong.
