BRENDAN RODGERS has confirmed the return of Nir Bitton to the Celtic squad after 11-months out with an injury!

When asked if Nir would be back in the squad for the Airdrie game the Celtic manager responed:

“Yes, he’s been back in training and looking very good, very strong so that’s great for us.”

Nir has been missing since February of last year when a knee injury resulted in the player undergoing surgery and then having setbacks on his road to recovery.

Nir was a bit of a utility man for Rodgers before his injury; the player could play centre midfield, defensive midfield or centre back depending on where Rodgers needed the Celtic star to play.

It’s worth noting, Celtic qualified for last season’s Champions League with Nir part of the defence – a position which was foreign to him at the time.

After so much hard work behind the scenes, the player is ready to get his Celtic career back on track, and that starts on Saturday in the Scottish Cup.

Nir has played a closed doors bounce game and also played a match for the developmental squad in December; it’s all about putting the minutes in on the pitch now.
