LEWIS MORGAN put in a top performance at the weekend for his loan side, helping them to a 2-0 victory over Plymouth and keeping their promotion hopes alive.

Lewis has been in and out of the team since joining towards the end of January but the player looks more like himself with every passing game he gets an opportunity.

The Plymouth game saw him take it to another level and he hopes it’s the start of a continued run in the team from now until the end of the season. The Sunderland fans have certainly taken to the attacking midfielder – his direct and entertaining play has won Lewis over with the crowd.

As Sunderland look to get back to the Championship, Lewis believes he can play a massive hand in that dream, and the more games he plays the sharper he will be.

“I’ve come down from Scotland and I’ve not played as much football as I would want this year, so it was always going to take a wee while for me to get going. I think I’m getting back to that match sharpness now. I’m feeling sharp. I’m someone who likes to be direct, so it’s important to get games in my legs and minutes in my legs, and I’ll only keep improving for that.” Morgan told the Sunderland Echo.

Celtic will certainly benefit from a confident Lewis Morgan if he can help Sunderland towards their goal. He may be someone at the back of Celtic fans thoughts at the moment but could be a big player for the club next season.
