He seems to be a forgotten figure at Celtic Park but it’s not lost on this writer we have a striker who is yet to show us what he can do.

In January Celtic signed Vakoun Bayo in their only permanent piece of business after Kolo Toure recommended the frontman to the club. At first Bayo wasn’t included in the team because the striker was coming off a two-month break. It took a while for the player to gather fitness.

He did eventually get onto the park under Brendan Rodgers – it would be during the Irishman’s last away day where Scott Brown won the league at Rugby Park where Bayo would get the last few minutes.

Since then, the player has had no game time with an injury during international duty giving him a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Today the player let us all know he was on the road back and gave us a gentle reminder he’s still there.

Vakoun had been scoring for fun before his move to Celtic and the striker will be desperate to show the fans what he can do. It’s likely to be pre-season when he’ll get his chance.

  1. Perhaps Rodgers has left us an untried nugget in Vakoun, which was overlooked in the turmoil, give us goals and save us millions! It’s only a maybe but what a bonus of we find it in pre – Season. Fingers crossed!
