Late last night, forgotten Celtic left-back Andrew Gutman scored his first goal for his new side, New York Red Bulls.
Gutman was a strange signing under Brendan Rodgers but he wasn’t the only American to join the club at that time, joining alongside right-back Manny Perez.
This afternoon, it has been announced that Perez will also be departing the club to join MLS side Portland Timbers on a one-year deal, who in turn have loaned him out to MLS expansion side Austin FC.
We have signed midfielder Emanuel “Manny” Perez to a one-year contract, and will loan him to Austin FC for the 2021 season.

Both players were rarely seen in Celtic colours but more so Perez. Gutman at least spent some time with the club during a pre-season break and even played a friendly fixture for the Hoops.
During his spell under contract at the club, Perez spent his time on loan at North Carolina playing 29 games, racking up six goals and nine assists in his two-season there.
The duo will forever go down as two of the most bizarre signings that the club ever made with it always being unlikely that either would have a chance of gaining a work permit to play for us.
