Championship club, Swansea City, a side currently facing a very challenging season, is reportedly eyeing former Celtic coach Chris Davies, who is now a key member of Ange Postecoglou’s coaching team at Tottenham.
This potential move comes after the recent dismissal of Michael Duff, with the club placing Alan Sheehan as interim manager.
Davies has a rich history of working closely with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and is believed to be a top choice for Swansea manager. His association with Rodgers goes back a very long time. Notably, Davies also played a significant role at Swansea previously, contributing as an analyst when the club secured promotion to the Premier League under Rodgers.
BBC Sport has highlighted Davies as a frontrunner for the managerial position at Swansea. Last season, he was a contender for the same role before Duff’s appointment. Should Swansea pursue this interest, they will need to negotiate with Tottenham for Davies’ release, which will likely involve a compensation agreement.
Davies’ potential departure from Postecoglou’s team at Tottenham could be a significant loss for the Premier League club. With Swansea keen on reviving their fortunes, securing a seasoned coach like Davies could be a pivotal step in their quest for Championship survival and future success.
The coach was famously part of the backroom team which one an invincible treble. He certainly has great credentials, but can he make the step up to manager?
