Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has said he is a huge fan of current attacking-midfielder, Tom Rogic and even went as far as to say he was the clubs ‘biggest bargain ever’.

In recent weeks, Rogic has looked to have come into the side and rejuvenated the team a little after some inspiring performances against Aberdeen and also produced the one piece of magic we saw all night against Sparta in the lead up to the goal.

Speaking with Football Insider, McAvennie believes he Rogic should be the man in the middle of the park, with the pieces of play he can produce in that position, which not many others in the side can.

“Rogic is the man for the middle of the park. He’s the man that has taken a hold of it.

“If he gets the ball with three men around him, he’ll keep hold of it. He can do that. When Ryan Christie is in the middle, he and Callum McGregor tend to go for the same ball. To think we only got him for around £250,000, it’s the biggest bargain ever.

“I’m a big fan of Rogic, a massive fan and he did really well on Sunday at Hampden with the massive pitch. Considering he’s not played too much I’m delighted with his performance.”

It really is crazy to think that we almost lost Rogic for just £4 million in the summer. Overall, I think McAvennie definitely has a point that the Australian is one of our best buys ever in terms of price, probably not the best though with the likes of Larsson and Moravcik.

He is a player who we have got more than our money’s worth on. Having just started playing this season, he has looked back at his best in the little game time he has been given. Hopefully, we can see him keep that up and have a big influence on the team, as there aren’t much better sights than a fully flowing Tom Rogic.
