Former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant has announced he will be leaving his role at Scottish Championship club, Alloa Athletic come the summer.

Grant will have spent two years in charge at the Wasps with the club exceeding expectations for renaming in the division last year. However, it was too much of an ask this season, being relegated in a 2-1 loss against Raith Rovers at the weekend.

Grant was of course formerly a player at the Hoops but also assistant manager to Tony Mowbray around just over a decade ago.

In recent weeks, there have been some rumours circulating on social media that Grant could even make a return to the club as a coach, alongside heavily linked Eddie Howe.

Howe spent time with Grant during his first spell at Bournemouth, where the former Celt was both a player and coach, before becoming the assistant manager there. So it doesn’t seem as though it could be out with the realms of possibility as both do have that link there.

Of course, these have just been rumours on social media, so you do have to take everything with a pinch of salt.

The managerial hunt continues at the club as we look for the man to take us forward into the up-and-coming rebuild this summer.
