FORMER Celtic Striker Anthony Stokes has taken everyone by surprise this evening by signing a short term deal with Greek side Apollon Smyrnis.

The Irishman was let go by Hibs before the window closed after falling out with Neil Lennon his former boss at Celtic.

Speaking recently, Neil Lennon was candid about stokes behaviour.

“There is a line that I won’t tolerate, and Anthony had plenty of chances not to cross that line.”

The 29-year-old had options to sign with a club down south but chose to head to Greece for perhaps a fresh start.

During his time at Celtic, Stokes won four league titles, two Scottish Cups and the League Cup.

  1. Sadly , this lad has wasted all the chances that came his way and unfortunately will be remembered for this more than anything else in football

  2. Whats the matter with the guy, world at his feet and he f**ks it up. He picked on the wrong guy when he mixed it with Lenny. If he screws the nut he might earn a few bob in the last few years of his career. A waste of talent, waken up son.

  3. Too late I’d say , has done his reputation a lot of damage with his antics , destinated for short term deals from pillar to post and in couple of years will be in the league of of Ireland playing for peanuts
