Former Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has been named as the new captain of Edinburgh side, Hearts.

The veteran stopper helped Hearts to promotion from the Scottish Championship last season and has now been named as the new skipper of Robbie Neilston’s side.

Gordon was far from a fans favourite during his time in Glasgow, with sections of the support being divided in their opinion of the stopper.

However, it cannot be denied that Gordon had an incredibly successful time whilst at the club, winning three trebles on the trot from 2016-2019.

Memorably, he had his chance to stop Neil Lennon’s side from completing the Quadruple Treble last season, but ultimately the Hoops came out on top in a penalty shootout.

Now, the 38-year old will line up for his boyhood side in between the sticks and with the captain’s armband on, in Ange Postecoglou’s first league game in charge of the club, at Tynecastle later this month.
