Former Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic is reportedly in talks about a move to the German Bundesliga after being without a club since the summer.

As reported by the Daily Record, the Croatian is supposedly wanted by both Stuggart and Augsburg who are interested in securing his services.

The 26-year old certainly had an up and downtime at the club putting in some good performances but also having his fair share of poor ones.

Neil Lennon appeared to be a fan of Jozo’s and was always complimentary of him as a player but the final straw seemed to come after his final game almost a year ago, in the 3-2 defeat at Celtic Park to Copenhagen.

Hopefully, he has finally put his long injury worries behind him and can kick on from here, as he seems like he has the skill set to be a decent defender but just needs that confidence and consistency.

The defender had his ups and downs at Celtic, the greatest moment, his game winning goal just after the passing of Billy McNeil, wearing the Celtic legend’s former number and scoring on the 67th minute.

Had the pandemic not hit when it did, there’s more than a chance Jozo would have still been at the club this season. There appeared to be a panic about the club when football was shut down and anyone they didn’t have to keep were moved in.

It’s likely been difficult for Jozo to find a club who will take a punt on him due to his injury record, but there’s a player in there if he can keep himself fit.
