FORMER Celtic striker John Hartson revealed he is unconvinced by Osdonne Edouard and the club’s pursuit of the Frenchman for a large fee.

The Welshman voiced his concerns through his Evening Times column where he also states he believes Celtic need three or four new faces this summer.

‘I have to be honest and say that I am not sure Odsonne Edouard is that guy because we haven’t seen too much of him, but what I will say is that if Brendan Rodgers is prepared to shell out the big bucks for him – and he’ll cost Celtic £10m – then you have to say that he has done more than enough to be trusted on that one.

‘I think we have seen glimpses of the potential the lad has’

‘But I still think that they need another three players after that. The goalkeeping situation is good. You’d expect Scott Bain to push Craig Gordon all the way now but defensively there is still a need for some cover.’

Edouard featured more in the second half of the season – he had a few quiet games but there were games he lit up.

His hat-trick against Motherwell earlier this season, his winner at Ibrox and then leading the line at Celtic Park and scoring a brace to win the title.

I think John is reacting more to the money it will cost to procure the player rather than being unsure about Edouard’s credentials.

Celtic are working hard to add new faces with John McGinn reportedly high on their list of targets – should they get new recruits there certainly will be exits.

  1. Where does he get 10 million from? I thought there was an agreement that Celtic would get first refusal at between 7 and 8 million. Or did this agreement not happen last year?

  2. I thought it was 4.5 mil`? Anyhow not worth 10 and Celtic will not pay that anyway.
Please dont buy mc Ginn, in my opinion he is not good enough for us, we need defenders.
