Former Celtic captain Paul Lambert has reportedly thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant Aberdeen job after Stephen Glass was dismissed last week according to SunSport.

Aberdeen only hired glass 11 months ago after parting ways with long time manager Derek McInnes, but now have a big decision to make on who will take charge.

Scott Brown moved to the Dons to link up with his former Hibs teammate Stephen Glass but now remains at the club after his departure.

Another former Celtic midfielder Barry Robson has taken charge with Brown helping out in the coaching setup until a new manager is appointed.

Paul has managed down south for the majority of his career but has found success hard to come by. The Champions League winner and the former Celtic captain is receptive to a move north.

If he were to be hired, Aberdeen would have two very popular Celtic midfielders helping to steer them out of their current predicament.

Neil Lennon has also been linked with the role.
