FORMER Celtic Champions league Hero Massimo Donati has postponed retirement after winning a deal with Championship side St Mirren until the end of the season.

The Italian, who famously downed Shakhtar Donetsk looked to have come to the end of his career with Hamilton announcing he and the club had parted ways earlier this season.

Since then Massimo, who sports a Celtic crest tattoo on his upper body, has been training with the Champions elect in paisley and has impressed so much they have signed him up on a short-term deal.

Speaking to the St Mirren website the Italian is very positive.

“I’m still fit, I’m still good with my body. I had to train myself for a few days, then I got this opportunity which I took. I’m at a good club that are very organised; The stadium is good, the fans are as well and I’m happy to be here.”

“I’ve enjoyed it, with the gaffer, all the staff and the team as well – they’re very good guys, a very good team. In the team are a lot of young players. I’m here to help, if I can, everybody.

We wish Massimo all the best!
