Former Celtic coach Damien Duff has been tipped as a potential future manager of the Hoops after impressing in his early managerial career with Shelbourne.

Duff, who previously served as first-team coach under Neil Lennon at Parkhead, has made waves since returning to Ireland, guiding Shelbourne to their first league title in 18 years. His success in the League of Ireland has sparked talk that he could one day take charge at Celtic.
Republic of Ireland legend Shane Long believes Duff would be an ideal fit for the Glasgow giants. Speaking about the possibility, Long said: “Could Damien Duff be a future Celtic manager? He’s obviously an Irish legend and there’s a big Irish following in Glasgow for Celtic so it would tick all the boxes.
“But we’ll see how it goes. He’s doing all the right things, like I said at the moment. Hopefully he goes on to really be one of the top managers of the future,” Long told BoyleSports who offer the latest Irish Premier Division Odds & Betting’
Duff spent 16 months at Celtic before stepping away for family reasons but left with his reputation intact. His no-nonsense approach and clear coaching ability made him popular with both players and staff during his time in Glasgow.
While Brendan Rodgers remains firmly at the helm as Celtic aim for further domestic dominance and European progress, the suggestion that Duff could be a name to watch for the future will certainly interest the Celtic fans.
Hopefully Celtic won’t need to look at recruiting in the dugout for a wee while yet, but it will be interesting to see whose name is in the hat for the position when it becomes available.
