Former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell is reportedly set to take up a role at English Premier League side Manchester City as a ‘loan team coach’.

According to Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope, Caldwell is close to joining up with the current English Premiership title holders.

The former defender was most recently in the Newcastle United u23s interim management role but recently departed the club where he spent some of his youth days.

He looks to quickly be back in the game, though, with his new role at City.

Of course, Manchester City has had their links to Celtic in the past, with several players making the move from the Etihad to Parkhead.

At this stage, there hasn’t been too much disclosed over some of the aspects of what Caldwell’s new role will entail. Although, it will be interesting if we begin to see more loan links between the two clubs.
