CELTIC are heading to Poland on Wednesday to play in Artur Boruc’s farewell match against Legia Warsaw.

Once upon a time, the hoops signed Artur from the Polish club. Under Gordon Strachan, Artur was a stalwart of the Celtic team.

The goalkeeper was fantastic and his eccentric personality also endeared him to supporters.

As he gets ready to hang up his gloves, Boruc still makes it clear he’s a Celtic fan who loved playing for the club.

The former Bhoys keeper has revealed this week he turned down some heavy hitters in the Premier League to stay with Celtic:

“But it was just before the World Cup and I was desperate to play for Poland at the finals and I couldn’t be sure I would be first choice goalkeeper at any of those clubs.

“So I signed a new contract with Celtic.”

Boruc would leave Celtic as Neil Lennon took over as boss. The stopper heading to Fiorentina to continue his career. He would end up playing in the English Premier League with Bournemouth later in his career and has finished back at his boyhood club Legia.

There are many Legia fans who don’t care for Celtic after a massive administrative error in the Champions League qualifiers saw them booted out and Celtic reinstated.

The friendly will no doubt be very competitive.

  1. Wonder how Kieran Tierney is these days at perennial losers, Arsenal FC.

I guess the money makes up for the lack of trophies.
