Fraser Forster chose not to return to Celtic for their ten in a row tilt, maybe the player saw the writing on the wall.

But maybe it was a purely selfish reason for snubbing the club who had brought him back into relevance after falling off the map down south.

The goalkeeper was sensational during his loan spell at the club. It’s no coincidence Celtic we’re a much poorer side when Fraser left the building.

What annoys a lot of Celtic fans; the stopper didn’t go back down south on the promise of first team football.

All he got was ‘you might get a game’. When injuries have occurred or there’s been a cup game against a lower ranked side, Fraser has gotten some game time.

Now, he looks out the picture again and for Southampton, they’re looking to finally get the Englishman off the wage bill.

MailSport are reporting Fraser’s deal will end in the summer with the goalkeeper free to talk to clubs in January about a move.

We don’t see a Celtic return in the goalkeepers future. That ship has likely sailed.

Wherever Fraser ends up, he will have to take a sizeable wage cut.
