Former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has taken up his biggest off field football role today as he was appointed  Chief Scout at PSV Eindhoven.

The man who famously brought home a ‘Title for Tommy’ under Gordon Strachan has been working at PSV since 2016 as a senior scout.

The Dutchman has now been given the task of managing seven scouts and how they are placed around the world to best help PSV’s recruitment drive

Speaking about the new appointment, the PSV chief was delighted to promote the big man.

“Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has impressed as a scout since his arrival at PSV almost four years ago and we feel head of recruitment appears to be the logical next step in his career”

The man with the longest name in Celtic’s history will take up his post immediately.

Changes are afoot. Between JVOH being head scout and Samaras becoming a chief executive, maybe one of them will wander back to Celtic at some point.

Hesselink himself is also delighted.

“I love my job”, says Vennegoor of Hesselink. “We scout all over the world to identify world class and emerging talent for PSV. I think it is quite an honour for me to be in charge of a team of scouts.”

Congratulations Jan.
