Former Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic will be delighted to get his first 90 minutes of competitive football under his belt in over 18 months this weekend.

It’s certainly a win for the good guys to see Jozo back in football after being released by Celtic after the football shutdown.

Celtic fans thought Jozo had another year to go on his contract – but like many deals – Celtic had the option of taking or leaving the final year. Jozo was released with Celtic in a panic about finances and the impact of what no football would do to the business.

Jozo was a victim of bad timing and his Celtic career ended very anti-climactically.

Because the Croatian had had issues with injuries over the years and every club tightening their belts – it took him a long time to land a deal with Gorica.

Now his fitness is in a good place, the big man played a full 90 minutes for his new club, keeping a clean sheet and grabbing a win.

Well done Jozo! Up the good guys.
