Former Celtic scout and current Raith Rovers boss John McGlynn has made the strong admission the SFA and SPFL must be practical if the rest of the season can’t go ahead.

McGlynn believes the fairest way to call it would be to name Celtic champions but have no relegation this season and promoting teams to make the league larger for one season only.

“Some people might say that’s self-interest, I would suggest I’m just being practical.” McGlynn told SunSport:

“It would leave no relegation, so that would pacify the majority, although it still wouldn’t be 100 per cent perfect.

“Rangers would still be unhappy because they’re not wanting to give in the title at all, and the 3rd and 4th placed teams in the play-off positions would maybe feel a little aggrieved.

“But whatever they do, it’s not going to keep everyone happy.

“They need to make a decision now that takes the uncertainty out of it, provides clarity, and gets payments out to the football clubs for the position you’re currently in.”

There’s so much at stake and hard decisions to be made. What shouldn’t be on the table is disregarding the 30 games which have already been played.

Celtic were closing in on nine in a row before this shutdown and the bhoys have been brilliant.

There’s no pleasing everyone but that’s the nature of the beast at the moment.

With games unlikely to go ahead any time soon and clubs needing competition money to survive – the SPFL might have to act sooner than they would perhaps like.
