Former Celtic star and youth product Darren O’Dea has announced he will retire from football at the end of the current season with Dundee.

The Irishman took to social media to announce he would be moving on from playing football and thanked everyone for their support over the years.

One man Darren paid special tribute to was Tommy Burns who helped him fulfil his Celtic and football dreams.

Most Celtic fans will remember the defender for his goal against the old Rangers in the League Cup final.

O’Dea, 32, will leave Dundee at the end of this campaign and officially hang up his boots.

Since leaving Celtic in 2012, the player has been well travelled and has spent time in Canada and India playing football.

Darren was one of this site’s first exclusive interviews back when we were in our infancy. We wish him all the best in his retirement from the game.
