RYAN CHRISTIE came off social media on Sunday after the player was sent off during the Livingston game. It appears the player has been subject to a certain amount of abuse and has in-turn deactivated his account.

Celtic fans have been reacting in their numbers – getting behind Ryan Christie and accepting that we all make mistakes. Ryan’s tackle on Scott Robertson was out of character and ill-timed but it doesn’t warrant abuse.

Twitter gives a platform to the most deranged in our society and if you’ve spent any time on it you are bound to come across abuse at some point either directed towards you or on your timeline.

Ryan has opted not to take part and not to lend credence to the morons who don’t know how to act in a civilised manner.

Former Celtic star Tony Watt has backed the player and urged anyone giving Christie abuse should have a word with themselves.
