VIRGIL VAN DIJK has come a long way since leaving Celtic for Southampton back in 2015 and has taken the Premier League by storm.
We all knew he was heading for the top but not even we could have imagined his success to this point with Virgil excelling after his move to Liverpool. A Champions League winner who was just recently voted the best player in Europe over and above Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Dutchman is on fire again for Liverpool this term prompting reports over the weekend that the Anfield club had lined up a record six-year deal for the player. Liverpool Echo claims the report stated Virgil was about to sign a £200,000pw contract and become one of Liverpool’s highest ever earners.
But as a follow-up, the paper has told its readers the defender has been left ‘bemused’ by the reports with absolutely no talks taking place to this point over a new deal between him and the club. The player is still contracted to Liverpool until 2023 so it might not be high on the agenda.
