Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has today had made a move from Championship side Blackburn Rovers to League One team Fleetwood Town.

Recently, Mulgrew has found playtime hard to come back under ex Celtic boss Tony Mowbray so decided that a move away from the club he has spent four-years at would be best for him at this stage of his career.

Interestingly, there will be a few familiar faces for Mulgrew at Fleetwood, with players such as Barry McKay and Jordon Rossiter currently at the League One side, who of course used to play for Celtic’s Glasgow rivals, Rangers.

But his new manager will also be a familiar name to many fans of Scottish Football, with Joey Barton currently being the head coach at the club.

Barton was certainly a controversial character during his short time in the country, claiming to be up there with one of the best players in the league before completely flopping and leaving the club less than six months into his spell.

He appears to be using his time in Scotland as an example though, picking up several players that have played in the SPFL for his Fleetwood side.

We all know the sort of character Charlie Mulgrew is, being a bit of a joker in the squad, so it would be interesting to hear some of the comments he may direct Barton’s way after his career at the blue side of Glasgow.
