Former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons is no stranger to a Glasgow Derby.

This one, is going to be so different from anything we’ve seen before. No fans in the stands and players missing through picking up COVID-19 puts an entirely different complexion on proceedings.

Kris believes the scenario suits the visiting side on the day.

With no crowd, Celtic don’t get that extra boost and impetus, according to Kris. The former player revealed the hostile atmosphere being taken out the equation means Celtic have to find a bee way to win:

“There’s no doubt in my mind that this new scenario does favour Rangers.” Commons wrote in MailSport column, cited by SunSport.
“Home advantage is so much to do with the hostile atmosphere that the Celtic fans create. That’s one less thing for Steven Gerrard’s players to contend with.
“Similarly, the fact those Celtic fans won’t be cheering every throw-in or corner their side wins won’t do Neil Lennon’s players any favours. As a player, I thrived on getting our fans out of their seats.
Although I do believe that the closed-doors environment is something of a leveller here, the best football side should still emerge with the three points.
“That’s what Neil Lennon will be saying to his players. They are champions for a reason, they are on a good run without playing exceptionally well and if they perform to their capability, they should come out on top.
“They just have to find a different way of winning this one. Normally, the atmosphere ensures the game takes care of itself, but this time the players have to look within for their motivation.”

The atmosphere plays a big part but it can also work against the home side if they go behind. Celtic won away in the derby last season while they lost at home.

The crowd can be on your back and every missed placed pass or wayward shot is met with groans.

The buildup starts now and it will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. Right now, Celtic fans are desperate to see their players back from international duty and hope nobody else tests positive for the virus. Christie and Bitton are out because of it, Edouard is a doubt and we’re awaiting Elhamed’s test results.
