Former player, Emilio Izaguirre has claimed that Celtic have taken on board his recommendation to keep tabs on Kervin Arriaga. The 23-year-old was due to feature in the Tokyo Olympics but is sidelined due to an injury. Arriaga predominately plays as a holding midfielder but does chip in with the occasional goal.

Izaguirre had two spells in Glasgow. After leaving for Saudi Arabia, he rejoined the hoops in 2018 under Brendan Rodgers. Aged 35, Izaguirre is still playing football in Honduras.

As quoted by SunSport, speaking to Diez, this is what Emilio had to say on the matter;

I want Arriaga to go abroad because for me it is a pride that another Honduran goes out and triumphs.

I spoke to Celtic about a move for him right now.

“I talked to the club and they told me they were going to see him at the Olympics, but that didn’t happen. [due to injury]

It is worth saying that there have been no other links established between Celtic and Kervin Arriaga but the left back’s claim should not be dismissed, the club should be exploiting transfer markets to bring in young stars of the future. However, it is hard to believe that there will be significant movement in regards to this transfer as Celtic are comfortable in the centre of the pitch, however, does Emilio know of a right-back?
