LEIGH GRIFFITHS has been training with Livingston after returning from Australia without a club.

The former Celtic striker has struggled to tie down a deal with a club, playing for Dundee, Falkirk and Mandurah FC.

It’s been a fall from grace for the player, but he only has himself to blame. Actions on and off the park have seen his name dragged through the mud and has left managers unable to trust him.

Now, without a club for months, the striker has resigned to the fact that he might not have a future left on the pitch. He told the BBC;

“The longer it goes on I think, ‘Is football for me anymore?’.”

“I’ve been without a club for five months now and, although Davie [Martindale, Livingston manager] has said I can come in and train with them, he has said there is no deal on the table.

“I’m still not seeing managers pick up the phone, which means do they want me at their club or is it time to call it a day? That is something I’m still considering at the minute.

“As a free agent you’ve not got a budget, you’ve not got a price-tag on your head, everything is still negotiable.”

The off-park Social Media incident was the last straw for Celtic, who had handed him many chances. Opening up on that particular investigation, the Scotsman revealed his regret, saying;

“I think that was probably the lowest point for me. I hold my hands up, I regret what I did.”

“It went to the right people behind the scenes, from Celtic, the authorities, the law, and I have proved that there was no wrong doing. But for me it is still a massive mistake and a massive regret.”

It’ll be interesting to see what happens next for the player; he’s obviously extremely frustrated at the situation he’s in and will be keen to sort his immediate future out sooner rather than later.
