According to reports this morning, over and above leaving Henrik Larsson in the lurch last week which collapsed the Swede’s managerial move to Southend – Tommy Johnson has apparently rejected a return to Celtic too.

Football Insider claim Neil Lennon was looking to bring in the former striker and current talent spotter to be part of a new look team under Nicky Hammond going forward. However, Tommy has rejected both Henrik and Celtic to move to Blackpool and be their head of recruitment.

It’s a strange one from Tommy, if true. He obviously wanted to be his own man and have the autonomy to make decisions on players coming in at Blackpool. The Southend gig would, on the face of it, appear to be the same as the Blackpool job.

Being another small cog in the Celtic wheel might not have appealed to the Geordie if he has aspirations to becomes a Head of Recruitment for a top EPL side in the future.
