Former Celtic striker Tony Watt is reportedly set to sign a pre-contract deal with fellow SPFL side Dundee United.

The 27-year old has recently been playing his football at Fir Park with Motherwell, with some claiming this as the best spell of his career in terms of consistency.

That is something which Watt has struggled with over the years, at several different sides in Scotland, England, Belgium and Bulgaria. However, he now finds himself top goalscorer of the Scottish Premiership with nine goals.

According to BBC Sport, the frontman is set to complete a pre-contract deal to Tannidace, joining Dundee United after turning down a new contract with the Well, which would become the sixth top-flight Scottish club he has played at.

Some may look at the move and question the decision as to why Watt is making the jump to Tayside. But, ultimately, the striker seems settled in Scotland and is potentially looking to try something new.

Under the impressive Tam Courts, it will certainly be interesting to see how the former Hoops striker does with Dundee United.
