Having read the majority of Davie Provan’s columns throughout the year, we can say with some certainty Provan doesn’t have Peter Lawwell on his Christmas card list and vice versa.

The former Celtic star took another opportunity to have a dig at the Celtic CEO. In his Sunsport column, Provan writes how Peter was very lucky he didn’t have to justify his large salary to a room of angry Celtic shareholders but instead handpick email questions to answer in a pre-recorded interview.

Lawwell and the board had their online AGM where it was more fluff piece on the club rather than an in-depth look at the poor turn the club has taken over the last three months.

Provan wrote:

PETER LAWWELL must have been glad Celtic’s AGM wasn’t held in front of supporters.

Questions for the board didn’t come from the floor but from selected emails.

It spared him having to justify his salary when the club has just been bumped out of the Champions League, Europa League and League Cup.

On Neil Lennon’s position Lawwell picked his words with tweezers saying, “He was the man in February 2019, he was the man for it last summer and we believe he is the man for it just now.”

Just now? What about next week, next month, next summer? Not a vote of confidence to have Lenny sleeping soundly.”

Celtic are looking to finally turn a corner with their form and the club’s fortunes as a whole. The Scottish Cup Final gives the team an opportunity to build some momentum. The Chief exec would love the heat to be taken off himself and the board by Neil Lennon’s men putting a solid run together.
