FORMER Celtic and Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino is set to go under the knife to have a brain tumour removed after an MRI scan confirmed his diagnosis.

The Talksport presenter will get the surgery shortly after the World Cup where he will be working for the media.

Writing an article in the Times The former player wrote:

After the World Cup, I’ll be having surgery and my rehabilitation could last for a couple of months, so I’ll be disappearing for a while.

Tony also used his media status to try and raise awareness of noticing the signs of a brain tumor and catching it early.

My roles with The Times and talkSPORT give me a platform to say please, don’t be like me. In similar circumstances, get yourself checked. I understand now that I left it too long and the longer you leave anything, the bigger the risk.

Cascarino played for Celtic between 91/92 and struggled for goals in that time eventually moving back to England.

We wish him all the best with his surgery.

    • I won’t wish him ill, but I certainly won’t give him any sympathy, or grieve for him. The pricks been trying to make a name for himself by joining the ingleesh media bandwagon and slating Celtic for the last year.
      Fuck him!
