Former Celtic frontman, Scott McDonald has today hit out at the SPFL official twitter account over his own Happy Birthday message.

The Australian striker was left frustrated with this message on his 37th birthday, after the account used a rather unpopular video, when it comes to being associated with Celtic.

This clip was of course McDonald’s famous goal on ‘Black Sunday’, which saw the Hoops lose to League title to rivals Rangers, on the final day of proceedings.

McDonald, who famously admits to being a boyhood Celtic fan was frustrated at the fact he was being used for ‘clickbait’ rather than having genuine birthday wishes sent his way.

He had successful spells at the likes of Dundee United, came out of retirement to play for Partick Thistle and his most famous spell in Scotland came at Celtic. So it is fair to say there are plenty of other clips they could have used of his strikes.

Currently, McDonald plies his trade back in his homeland, Australia with Brisbane Roar. He does also comment on Scottish Football regularly on both twitter and also occasionally on TV or Radio.

  1. All his goals against teams (whether against Celtic, Scotland) are memorable to Scott. They all count to him. Just the same as Mo Johnston. Loved both of them as players, just as much as some fans hate them. You just can’t please everyone. Happie birthday when it comes.
