It wasn’t so long ago John Guidetti seemingly had the world at his feet. Despite injury woes the player was held in very high regard at Manchester City who would only ever part with the player if it was on a loan basis.

Since then John has been let go by Man City where Celtic was his final Lon stop before being released by the English side.

During the first half of his Celtic season, John was on a blistering run of form. However, in the second half of the season he failed to replicate his first half form and was eventually usurped by Leigh Griffiths. The Swede was still in demand down Celtic way but he turned his nose up at signing for Celtic on a permanent basis.

The striker moved to Celta Vigo where many felt he had taken a large step back from a club like Celtic. But John was adamant he was taking a step up. However, the Swede fell out of favour with Celta this season and he’s been sent on-loan today to Spanish minnows Deportivo Alavés.

The team is currently fighting relegation from Spains top flight and are in need of a goal scorer. They’re hoping John will be the man to help them. It is, however, a long way from the heights of where he once sat.
