Before Joe Hart joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, Celtic found themselves with a goalkeeping problem over the past 12 months.

It started with the signature of £5 million man Vasilias Barkas last season, which ultimately saw the Hoops rotate between three different goalkeepers at stages to try and solve the keeper crisis.

When Barkas signed for the club after the departure of a critical figure in the 2019/20 season, Fraser Forster, the club was linked with a fair share of goalkeepers.

One of them being Scotland internationalist David Marshall.

Since then, Marshall – who started his career at Parkhead under Martin O’Neill – has fallen down the pecking order and, according to Sun Sport, will now be offloaded by Derby County in the January window.

Thankfully, we now appear to have our goalkeeper position under control again, with Joe Hart putting in impressive performances between the sticks for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season. So that won’t be on the recruitment staff at Lennoxtown are likely to consider.

However, it might not be a surprise to see the experienced 36-year old come back up the road and possibly sign for another Scottish Premiership side in order to get back playing first-team football once again.
