CELTIC PARK will NOT be the new home of young Gavin Bazunu after it was revealed Manchester City have tied up a deal for the goalkeeper which will see him make the move to the Premier League from Shamrock Rovers next summer.

City have pinched the player for €400,000 with add-ons should the player progress within the City system.

Bazunu, 16, had a reported short trial with Celtic this summer but there was no indication Celtic ever made a formal approach.

Speaking about his goalkeeper, Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley was worried about bringing him into the first team fold so quick but believes the lad has ‘scary’ potential.

“He’s been excellent. My worry was if you put him in and you hurt his development because he’s so young.

“That was my only worry because he’s been so good, physically, mentally. He’s ready to play.

“He is 16 years of age and he is nowhere near his maturity physically, you can see that. When all that comes and he puts the size on and the strength on, it’s going to be scary what he can do.

“I think there is more to go. You can see it in him, there is more size to be put on as well.”

The youngster will now finish his education in Ireland before making the switch.

Man City have signed the player on an initial four-year deal and it remains to be seen if it’s to invest in the squad or they will use their new business model to loan the player out and hope for a future fee.
