Former Celtic and Dundee Utd winger Gary Mackay-Steven is on the brink of a move to Tynecastle with the player undergoing a medical this Friday morning.

The midfielder has spent the last year playing under Ronny Deila at New York City FC but they chose not to keep him on after the end of their season.

Coming back to the UK, GMS has had options but it looks like Hearts will be his destination as they add creative flair to their team as they look to bounce back to the Premiership at the first time of asking.

The 30-year-old will link up with his former Celtic team-mate Craig Gordon once he signs for the Championship club.

It’s a good signing for Hearts, GMS is not done by a long shot and has some top years left in the game. Things never really worked out for him at Celtic with Stuart Armstrong becoming the stand out in the double signing back when Ronny was in charge.

  1. Best of luck to Garry, he always comes across as a nice lad.
It’s an interesting time at the mo in the transfer business, clubs are already strapped with this damn virus and desperately unsure of what coming next.
Club and player alike are in the hold ’em or fold ’em mode and If your clubs just folded you, you could be on a sticky wicket. (excuse the mixed metaphor)
