Former Preston North End and Norwich City manager Alex Neil has expressed in an interview that if he was offered either the Celtic or Rangers job it would be tough to turn down.

As quoted by the Daily Record, speaking on Hodge on Nodge podcast when Neil was asked about the possibility of being approached by one of the two Glasgow sides he admitted it would be something that would be hard to ignore.

“I think if Rangers or Celtic come knocking it’s something you would certainly have to sit, talk about and consider.

“There’s no doubts about that, with the magnitude of the clubs.

“Would it be a possibility? I’m probably the wrong person to ask that question, you’d have to ask them that.

“I don’t know, I could see myself managing again in Scotland again at some point; when that will be I’m not quite sure.

“The difficulty you’ve got when you’re not working is that you don’t know what your next step is going to be, what’s going to come my way or if there is going to be jobs available in the summer.

“At this point, I think I just need to bide my time and see what comes up.”

Neil who has managed in the SPFL in the past with Hamilton Accies was recently let go from his job at Preston where he spent the last four years in the Championship.

He had somewhat success down south, mostly with Norwich gaining promotion to the English Premier League. There have been no links to the Celtic job in recent weeks or months.

However, former striker and pundit Chris Sutton suggested that Neil could be a candidate for the job.

Ultimately, with the stage that both Celtic and Alex Neil are at right now, this appointment would not go down very well with supporters and you would imagine a majority would be underwhelmed by that if it was ever to happen.
