Former Celtic goalkeeper Packie Bonner has insisted Celtic fans shouldn’t worry too much, despite the swift exit of CEO Dominic McKay.

Speaking on yesterday’s BBC Scotland Sportsound, whilst admitting it was a shock to him as it was to us all, Bonner stated that he doesn’t believe it will impact the management or the team.

“It was a shock for all of us. We don’t know the circumstances, but I’d love to see the club come out and make it a little bit more definite what the issue was. A lot of people are talking.

“It’s better to make that decision now early in the season. I don’t think it’s going to affect the team. The manager will protect the team. The manager is very stable when he speaks; he will protect them.

“With Michael Nicholson stepping up, he knows what it’s about. I think there’s still stability there, and I wouldn’t worry too much about the playing aspect, and I would say the fans shouldn’t worry too much either. They’ve been very active in the transfer market, and they’ve got their players in now. They need to settle down and build.”

The news of McKay’s exit created a lot of shock amongst the Celtic support, which inevitably brought rumours on social media about the recently appointed CEO.

Yesterday’s comments from Ange once again hit the nail on the head as he always does and will likely have settled a lot of fans down with any sort of worry they might have had.

Of course, it is far from an ideal situation to have the new CEO at the club leave so early on in his reign. But, we cannot let that affect the positive start that Ange has made around the club.

Hopefully, from here, things can settle down and changes behind the scenes can be made.

  1. The problem that Celtic have is Dermot DESMOND and his lackeys on the board. They are dysfunctional. They are into an old firm model and are taking the fans for mugs. This is also not good overall for Scottish football.

Honesty left Celtic when Fergus left.
His intention was to leave the club with some fan influence and the club have continually thwarted that. Fergus did not intend it to be left in the hands of one person.
